Cleary I just get curious about very niche things. This spreadsheet tells you when each musical I know takes place throughout history, or at least when they start. You’d be shocked by some of the stories that start in the same year.

I would like some help though…
I’m looking for a way to turn this sheet into a better visualization of time. I’d like to make it into an actual mega-timeline that shows when shows begin AND when they end and everything in between. If you have a solution, please reach out.

There’s an endless supply of unknown musicals with amazing songs tucked within their cast recordings. When I find these standout songs I add them to this playlist which has almost thousands of saves. It’s a great way to broaden your musical horizons and find new styles of musical theatre to love.

This spreadsheet is where you can go if you’re looking for musicals similar to the ones you already know and love.

I highly recommend that when you find the title of a musical you might enjoy, go locate that musical on the left column and see what musicals are similar to that one before you start looking further into it.

The Cast Recording Timeline is where I keep track of every album that comes out each year as I research them and decide whether they should be uplifted.

I started making it because there were no online resources that did that. It’s not the most elegant form of documentation but I love how visual it is.

Have you ever wondered about the ratio of black main characters to white main characters in musical theatre? How about how often religions and disabilities are represented in musical theatre? This spreadsheet is a collection and visualization of that data.

A while ago, a previous dance teacher of mine hired me to create a list of child-friendly musicals for her to draw from when she’s teaching theatrical dance styles. That’s how this spreadsheet came to be.

The category of “Child-Friendly” is hard because every parent has a different idea of what a child should or shouldn’t be exposed to, so there’s a column dedicated to possible reasons a parent may not want a child to see or listen to this musical.

This is where I document basic information about every musical that I research. I have sections for the content of the albums, the creators, my opinions on the musicals, etc. It’s always being added to and adjusted.

One day I got really curious about where musicals take place in relation to each other. This interactive map is where I keep track of those things and see where the majority of musicals are set (spoiler alert, New York wins by a landslide).
